You can send and receive money to and from any valid mobile phone number in the countries where Settle is available.
To send money cross-border you need to have a verified identity. You can send any amount you like, as long as it is within the set transaction limits. The recipient may be required to verify their identity if the amount is above local limits in their country. If a recipient does not accept the money or does not identify as required, the money is returned to you after 48 hours.
To send (or request) money cross-border follow these steps:
- Swipe up "Menu"
- Tap “Send” or “Request” icons
- Select a recipient from your contact list or write a new phone number, including country code
- Select the currency
- Enter the amount
- Select the funding source if you don’t want to use the default one
- Slide to Settle.
Sending money instantly cross-border may be subject to a service fee. Currently, the service fee is promotionally set to zero. If you don't already hold the currency you want to send, we will offer you a currency exchange rate. Any applicable fee or exchange rate will be shown to you on the payment screen for you to accept prior to transacting.
Any contact that belongs to a different country than your phone number will be listed with their flag in the recipient list. If a contact has more than one valid mobile phone number, the contact will be listed one time per valid number, so you can easily select the correct contact, their phone number and country.
If the recipient does not have the Settle app yet, they will be invited to download and activate the app to receive the money. Unclaimed money will be returned to you after 48 hours.
